Q: what should i buy the new VW Jetta GLI or the New Camry SE sport?
I am on the verge of buying a new cars. There are two cars that i have worked down with , souds way differnt but they are Toyota Camry 2007 sport and VW Jetta GLI sport. Both being of the sporty breed, yet i have only one stake on VW space and is it that reliable as Camry. i am getting roadside assitance and all thos things in it for free.. warranty is higher on vw.. but still toyotas are well known for being made to last long... what abt this vw... the new gli is really superb. and so is the new camry... pls help!!

all those models are from the mk4 era. not the new ones.
A: You can get the 1.8t in both the GTI and the GLI. Both come with VR6's too. The 1.8T is way better for modifications, and the market for them is much bigger, not to mention cheaper. An 04-05 GLI with the 1.8 is a great car.
How right you are, the R32 does own all, I wish I could afford one too.
Q: should i take off the antenna on a 2005 vw jetta gli before going thru car wash this winter?
the question really is "will the antenna break off in the car wash?" it s on top rearside of the roof and looks like a shark fin because of the way its angled. anyone have any antennas breaking off their vw while going thru the car wash?
A: No they're flexible I never had issues in car washes. You'd have to pull really hard on one to rip it off.
Q: How much is it to have the brakes changed in a 05 VW Jetta GLI?
I went to a VW place and they gave me an estimate of $475 to change the brakes and the rooters(sp?) Does this sound right? Its for the front tires....$475 EACH.....Can someone let me know if I am being ripped off?? Should I go to a Pep Boys-like place?
A: honey, brake pads for your front discs costs 18 bucks max. Unless your rotors are ruined (you can look at them and if they have deep grooves, they need to be replaced) Disc brakes are very easy to change, if you can clean the lint catcher in your dryer, you can replace your brake pads. Call advanced auto and price the parts yourself and figure the brake job is an hour job then do the math yourself.
Q: I have a 2003 VW Jetta GLI with a Monsoon stereo and I need the 4 or 5 little knobs, where can I get them?
You know the fader, balance, treble, bass and whatever knobs. They keep falling off.
A: Have you tried ebay? usually can find anything on there or if not try some online scrap yards as they can sometimes source what your after.
Q: My 2003 VW Jetta GLI won't start, can you help?
The car makes a clicking noise when I turn the key. The battery is fine, and it has gas. It seems to ONLY happen in the morning, I live in Texas and its not that cold, but still. I took it to the VW dealership and they put a new battery in. And it happneed again this morning!
A: It is apparent that the starter is not geting enough voltage from the battery in order for it to turn the engine fsat enough to start. In order to correct this you have to check the connections and cables in the starting ssystem to see where the excess resistance is. When this is eliminated the engine should start normally.

Q: anyone know the how many amps are used in the headlights of a 2005 vw gli jetta?
someone asked me this and i had no clue what to say except that theres a headlight lowbeam/high beam , turn signal, and fog light in them.
A: As the vehicle is 12 volts. Power (watts) = Voltage x Amps
Each Head light lamp is as follows
High Beam = 55 Watts = 4.6 Amp
Low Beam = 35 Watts = 2.92 Amp.
therefore for both headlights on high beam you will be drawing about 9.2 Amp.

In the rest of the world the Rabbit was called the Golf since it's intro in 1974.They had the Golf GTI in 1975. In the US we didn't get the GTI until the 1983 Rabbit GTI. It was renamed the Golf GTI in 1985

Q: can i put a G35 exhaust on an 05 VW Jetta GLI?
i have money, tools, and could probably get an exhaust, but just wanted to know if this can be done? if so what year would be the best for an exhaust to fit my car? i will probably have to cutout my bumper to make it a dual, but just wondering if anybody has tried or has experience thanks
A: You do mean taking the exhaust from an Infiniti G35 and putting it on a VW?
Why wouldn't you just get an aftermarket exhaust system made for the VW? The size, path, and fitment of the pipes, muffler, cat, etc. would be completely dissimilar. Way more work and cost than just getting an exhaust kit made for the VW, IMO
Q: 2005 VW Jetta GLI Stop Check Coolant Alert Temp Gauge Not Working?
I started having this problem Stop- Check Coolant warning in my 2005 VW Jetta GLI 1.8T about a month ago. On top of it the Temp Gauge was acting up, working then not, working and then going up when I stepped on the gas and down when I released. I looked all over the internet to find the answer but my brother helped me out instead.
Solution: Change the Temp Gauge Sensor. Mine was a green 4 pin ($11 at AutoZone). The gauge began working but the Stop - Check Coolant warning still came on. Since I just wanted to check, I added a little water maybe 1 - 2 oz. of water to the coolant tank. Surprise, the next morning NO warning. The following morning NO warning.
Whatever you do do not take your car to the dealer unless you see orangish fluid below your car.
Ex: Boyfriend was told he needed a new Serpentine Belt ($190), belt only cost $30. Brother checked it out. Nothing wrong with belt no cracks, nothing. I think $11 bucks for the new sensor is worth it before spending who knows how much at the "stealers"
I know that I did not write a question. It was just for info. for others that may be experiencing the same problem. The Sensor was only $11 for me. And the coolant level was above the min. line, so no the coolant gauge was not doing it's job, it was weirding out. This is just what I did to fix my problem again for only $11 dollars and hopefully it will help someone else save money in this rip off economy.
A: Not sure if you realize this, but there is no question here...
In 2003 when those green top coolant temperature sensors came out they used to be $4 at the "stealership," but the price has since gone up to about $25. If your coolant level was below the marked "min" line on the overflow tank with the engine at operating temp, then your low coolant dash indicator was just doing its job.
