Q: Volkswagen?
Do you own a Volkswagen, and get continuous problems with the lights/electricals? We have been having problems repeatedly with the electricals.
A: Hi,
I just purchased a 2007 Rabbit 12 days ago and today it would not start, everything comes on, the lights, heat, radio, all the power windows work but the car would not start, the battery is fine and all, but when I got to the dealer ship (finally made it..long story) they said they had never seen a new car with 700km have this issue. Have you ever had someone say something like this about new VW cars?
Regards,
Sandra
Q: volkswagen?
where can i find volkswagen car interior parts instalation instructions?

Q: What alternators will work in my 1991 volkswagen vanagon?
I am in Argentina where they do not have my alternator. I have a 1991 volkswagen vanagon with a Bosch 90A, number AL33X. Wondering if anyone knows if a volkswagen Gol or Senda, or any other South American vehicle will work for my car? Please let me know, we are stranded in Argentina!
A: It matters mostly if your alternator does more than one job. My VW beetle generator also is connected to a fan (in the doghouse)which cools the motor. I could not swap the beetle generator for say one out of a Ford because the ford does not have dual shaft ends(one to hold the fan)
My squareback VW had a regular generator which I changed with a GM generator which worked just fine as there was a simple clamp holding it in position.
In your case look to see what the alternator does. Actually hold the alternator in your hands and compare the exterior to the one you want to swap it with. If they look the same on the outside, the output doesn't matter. A golf may do it or maybe a Ford.
Q: What are the demographics of Volkswagen owners?
I am looking to find out what the demographics are for people that own or lease Volkswagen. If possible, the demographics for Routan or CC models.
A: Same as any other car.
Practically any age, sex, or race.
People buy cars. I've seen a 60 year old woman driving a Toyota Supra.
And a 16 year old kid want a minivan.
Demographics for such things, are pretty much pointless.
Q: What is the difference between the volkswagen Golf r32 and the normal golf?
are there any other golf R-xx?
and why isn't any golf R-xx shown in the official volkswagen website?
A: The R32 is a 3.2 engine, 4 wheel drive, bigger breaks, uprated suspension amongst other things. You won't find it on the VW website because they don't make them any more. It has been replaced with the Golf R, which has a 2.0 turbo engine, producing 270bhp.
Q: Are the 2006 and newer Volkswagen models reliable and good mechanically?
I'm looking to buy a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI and have been doing some research on Volkswagen's. I have seen mixed reviews and just want to know if this particular vehicle would be a good purchase. Reliability and quality are very important to me.
A: Yes these are good cars.
Q: What is the life expectancy of a Volkswagen?
I'm looking into buying an '04 Volkswagen Jetta & I'm wondering how long Volkswagens usually last....??? I am usually a Toyota-girl & I am used to the legendary reliability of Toyotas.
Are Volkswagens as good as Toyotas?
A: Toyota is not as reliable as people think, my daughters got regular maintenance and still threw a rod at 65k miles :(
Q: What cables attach to the battery for a Volkswagen Beetle?
There are three different cables that attach to the Volkswagen Beetle (1970) battery, with two to the positive terminal and one to the negative. Where do these cables attach from there? And what is the chassis to transmission strap?
A: The big red cable goes to the starter. The other goes to the regulator. The black cable goes to the floor pan. There is another cable (woven metal strap) under the car that connects the transmisson housing to the floor pan.
Q: How do you replace the turn signal on a Volkswagen Passat?
I have a 1999 Volkswagen Passat and broke the turning signal in a small fender bender. I want to replace the turning signal, but can't find any screws to take the broken signal out. Does someone have experience working with Volkswagens?
A: I assume you are talking about front turn signal - if so there is a spring with the hook inside that holds it - look from inside, you will see it.
Q: How many miles per gallon does a 2005 turbo volkswagen beetle get?
I am looking into purchasing a used 2005 volkswagen turbo beetle, and although the dealership claims that it gets 36 mpg, I have trouble believing it. Does anybody know what its actual gas milage is?
A: I have owned two New Beetles, both were/are non-turbos, and the best gas mileage I got was 32. I drive like a grandma, seriously. I would expect to get around 25. Unless of course you are talking about a diesel, in which case I would expect 35 to 45, depending.
Q: What is the Wagner Dot used for in a Volkswagen Beetle?
A two prong cylindrical piece is connected to some wires in y 1970 Volkswagen Beetle. The writing on it appears to say "wagner dot."
Where do these wires connect, where does the mechanism go, and what does it do?
A: Wagner is the manufacturer, DOT means it is Department of Transportation approved. It's either a head light relay, possibly a flasher for turn and 4 ways (I doubt it they usually have more prongs and are square), or they key in ignition/seatbelt buzzer. If high and low beam headlights work and turnsignals work, it's the buzzer. The buzzer is annoying when it works.
Q: Where can I find models of Volkswagen Beetles?
I'm planning a sweet sixteen with a "Peace, Love & Sweet Sixteen" theme. I would like to use models of a Volkswagen Beetle/ Volkswagen Bug for my invitations. I would like to be able to put an actual invitation and a button in the model, so they need to open and not be super small. I am willing to order online, or from a specific store. I will need between 30 and 40, possibly more. Thanks!
A: There are a number of places that you can purchase them. Check the following two web sites
http://www.toywonders.com/diecast/vw-beetle-diecast.htm
http://www.nextag.com/vw-beetle-toys/stores-html
and if those do not help, then this one lists a number of different stores (168 actually)

Q: How important is it to use premium gasoline in a Volkswagen?
I have a Volkswagen Passat and was wondering how important it is to use premium gas in the tank. If I buy regular, is it severely bad for the transmission? Why?
A: If its recommended you are probably ok using 87 but you will lose some power.
If its required eventually you will cause some damage to your engine since its not made for the cheap stuff. Its like $0.20/gal so its like $2-3/tank. Thats really not that much when you are spending $30/tank.
Q: How do i restore the colour on my yellow faded volkswagen polo?
I have recently bought a yellow 2001 volkswagen polo. There are parts on the car which have faded to pale yellow. Does anybody know a way of restoring the colour?
It also has chips, know any good chip repair kits?
A: Go to your local car store and get a rubbing compound to bring the color back, and pick up a color stick to cover the chips.
Q: How much would an old volkswagen bug cost to pass emission test?
I found a few 2000-20003 volkswagen bug's that are made in mexico (Yeah the old model) but they are not used in mexico anymore because of pollution. That means they will not pass an emissions test in USA (aka Colorado).
So how much am I looking at to take my Bug to a mechanic and modify it in order to pass an emissions test?
A: It is more then emissions.. it must also meet the fed. 5mph crash requirements and the mexican models do not.
Find a GOOD VW shell (blown engine, bad fenders, tranny, whatever) with US registration, then bring the Mexico car over and move engine, seats, whatever parts you need into the US one. Car registration goes by the vin #.. not the engine so you will have a legal car with new guts for less then the cost of a classic car here in the US. IN the long run it will cost you less and you will not have to worry about possible post accident issues when they discover that the car they insured is not really the car you were driving..
