Q: Nissan Frontier 2004 4x4 vs.2004 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4? Anyone own A Frontier, How is it?
Thinking about buying a 2004 Toyota Tacoma? Anyone own a Nissan Frontier or have experience with them. I really like the Tacoma, but the Frontier is a lot less expensive. Any thoughts?
A: It all depends on what you want it for. I have a frontier and love it. What i do know is usually toyota packs in more horse power. For example my nissan is a 3.3 im pretty sure the toyota is going to be a 3.5 atleast.(now don't quote me on this but thats how it was for older ones the nissans 4cyl had a 2.4 and toyotas had a 2.7.
Nissans are really reliable.
Q: How do you remove the base of the antenna and the front bumper from a 2004 Toyota Tacoma?
I was in a wreck, and the right fender and the right side of my front bumper were crushed, and, to save money, me and my dad want to fix this ourselves. So any help would be appreciated! And the more detailed the answer, the better.
A: Toyota's repair manuals are better to obtain from Toyota directly online:

It's like $15 for 2days access, but you can just download all the documents for your car.
Q: I want to do a brake job on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma. What problems might I have.?
I have replaced break pads amd shoes in the past but it has been a few years sense I did it. I have tools or can get any that I would need. Any one have any tips for me? The truck has 55000 miles on it. Someone out there helped me a few weeks ago with my e-break light staying on. The fluid was low. Can that person help me with this?
A: Hello, I have a 2002 Tacoma V6 dbl cab. I replaced my front pads about a year ago. It was pretty straight forward if you have some basic knowledge on changing rotor pads. You do have to carefully remove this wire frame that holds the pads together in the caliper then you can remove the pads next you need to compress the caliper piston all the way to put in the new pads. If your fluid reservoir is low this is probably an indication that your pads were really worn. Replace fluid to indication marks after inserting new pads in caliper and bolting it back up to the rotor mount. It would be a good idea to bleed the calipers to extract any air bubbles that have accumulated in your brake lines. This will insure maximum brake force and effectiveness. If you're working alone you can purchase a self-bleeding hand pump to extract the air from the lines or ask a buddy to carefully pump the brakes to properly bleed the fluid until all air is removed and only fresh new fluid is coming out. Finally make sure everything is properly tightened to torque specs if available. Reassemble and you should be good to drive!

Q: How much money could I sell my 2004 toyota tacoma?
with a 4cyl engine and 1099597 miles
A: It is worth $11000 dollars. But you can sell it for $7000 dollars, because i don't think your going to get $11000 dollars for it. I hope you are able to sell it.
Q: 2004 Toyota Tacoma, How much should I pay?
I'm looking at buying a used 2004 toyota tacoma. It is a V6 5 speed manual TRD Off Road, including Bilstein shocks, Hidden Hitch, Box liner, cruise, A/C, tilt steering, power locks/windows, keyless entry, electronic differential lock, power lumbar support. I haven't seen it yet, but assuming it is in good condition, what is the maximum I should pay for it. Also, should I still get a good five years out of this truck without many problems?
It has 96,000 km (60,000 miles).
A: Check the used car values below to get an approximation of what it's worth. They tend to be right.
Q: Is my 2004 Toyota Tacoma totalled?
Alright so I'm an idiot and sideswiped a huge telephone pole on the passenger side. The only real damage is the front left quadrant, and there is no apparent damage if you saw the back of the car, the front, the driver side, or even the back left side, but the damage on the front left is pretty big. The panel is pretty screwed up and dinged, the frame is bent a little, but really only on that side, and the wheel assembly ripped off the axel.
So is it totalled? 2004 Toyota Tacoma SuperCab
so I just blue booked it and the approximate value in excellent condition is 18k, anybody know if the damage i described would be more than that?
A: To answer your question I almost guarentee your car isnt totalled. The same exact thing happened to my 2008 Solara a couple of weeks ago (minus the wheel). I didnt report it to insurance and the damages cost me about 1,500 dollars to fix, but it didnt take long to fix at all nor was it a problem. Good luck, and I hope this helped.

Q: 2004 Toyota Tacoma TRD Prerunner ExtraCab Lift Question?
I'm looking to lift the front end of my 2004 Tacoma TRD Prerunner extracab truck but am a bit confused, hoping someone can shed some light on my issue for me.
I really just want to level out the front end with the rear or maybe a very slightly higher front end than rear. I'm looking at the King coil-over kit and it says it will provide 0"-2.5" of lift for the front end. My question has to do with the way the TRD Prerunners are 'lifted' from the factory in comparrison to the stock Tacomas. When the rating says 0-2.5", is that measured from the current height of the truck (assuming I get the correct part of course) or would that be measured from height of the "stock" trucks; meaning I'm only getting maybe something like -1.5" to 1" or so of drop/lift? I'm really only looking to fit a bit bigger tires and wont ever really push it hard in the dirt so wouldnt want to lift it much apart from this so I dont think it'll be a problem, I'd just like to get a better understanding of what's what.
Also, I've heard that the Bilstein 5100's make a good option for the rear shocks as opposed to shelling out another $700-800 for matching Kings out back and since I dont plan on doing any really serious off-roading... If anyone has any opinions on that choice I'd love to hear them as well. Thanks in advance!
Awesome answer Ralliart, thanks! I'm not actually wanting the front higher than the rear. It's about 1" lower than the rear as it sits now and I really just want to bring it up to level with the rear and put a slightly larger tire on it. This is also why I'm not lifting the rear end. I currently run the stock 265/70R16 size and want to step up a little bit to some 31" x 10.5" BFG's.
A: This a common question asked about the preruners in comparison to the base tacomas. You should receive an additional 2.5" of lift on top of the factory lift. The kings are an excellent choice as well as the bilsteins. Although lifting the front and not the rear will tend to throw your center of gravity off. If you are still unsure as to the maximum lift attainable on your specific model I would contact some King reps and inquire. This is based off of my experience with King and similar products. Are you planing on lifting the rear later on, or are you just liking that bro look :)
Q: Will steel rims 16x7 (6 on 5.5") off a 2008 Toyota Tacoma fit on a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with 6 lug?
A: Yep, same bolt pattern. Just make sure you double check it before buying anything. Best bet is to swap rims/tires out real quick. That will tell you for sure.

Q: Buying an older Toyota Tacoma truck, a little help needed!?
The idea of owning a truck has finally crossed my mind and stayed. But, I really hate large, extended cab, gas-guzzling, un-needed trucks that really don't serve a purpose unless you work construction or something. So, i've lead myself toward an older model 1997-2004 Toyota Tacoma, one that's a two-seater and small. Can someone shed some light on this possible purchase- is it a good sturdy vehicle and such?
Thanks in advance!
A: Make sure that you either get a carfax (which may not have a listing of most work done on older cars, BTW), or better yet, copies of any and all work done by the prior owners.
Toyotas are not exactly cheap to maintain as far as parts are concerned, but providing it has been well-maintained, you can drive almost forever. For a higher mileage vehicle (just as with ANY older truck, no matter the make), you may need to have the gaskets replaced, as well as some parts as they wear out from daily use. Like any vehicle, they may show rust; take it to a body shop and have the mechanics look under the vehicle as well as in the wheel wells and flatbed.
I would suggest, though, that if possible, look for an extra-cab. We used to have a '94 Toyota 1/2 ton pickup (precursor to the Tacoma), and the extra-cab gave us simply a little bit extra room behind us for placing some small bags, groceries, and allow the passenger to recline the seat or let a tall driver have some room to move the seat back. If you can find one, I also suggest looking for an SR5 version; it was an upgraded trim package that gave bucket seats and a few more 'tweaks'. I *think* the 4 cylinder only came as a manual, but I would suggest the 6-cylinder. Gas mileage might be a tiny bit less, but you have to remember that these are still trucks, and the extra cylinders allowed for a bit more horsepower.
