A: It is a cover for where the fog lights would be. Go to the toyota dealer and order a new one
Q: Should I buy an extended warranty for 2004 toyota rav4 chili edition?
I am buying from a dealer where original owner had regular service/maintenance done. Also carproof report came back clean. There is 1yr left on manufacturer warranty for tranny etc only. The dealer is offering a 3yr costing 1800 for 1600. For the car experts out there is it worth it? Also is there specific questions I should ask about the coverage?
A: If regular service was really done, I'd put the money in the bank and insure myself against future problems knowing that I bought a used car from the best reliable company, Toyota. Really, the only significant thing your insuring against is failure of the transmission, and I'd take a chance on that.
Q: I'm thinking of buying a 2004 toyota rav4 for my son, for college. Is it a good car for him?

A: YES, its great for parking and you could see the front very easy, parking is VERY VERY VERY easy
Q: car experts!! look here!! how much would a frame for a 2004 Toyota Rav4 cost to get fixed if it is damaged?
i just crashed my moms car its a 2004 Toyota Rav4. i was making a left turn and i was right behind a semitruck and i had a green light but i didnt see this dark green truck coming and i dont think he had his lights on so i didnt see him.
anyways he hit the passenger side toward the front and the car almost turned on its side and i thinki the frame might be bent and damged so how much would it cost to replace or fix a damaged frame??
A: You dont fix bent frames. A bent frame means the vehicle is totalled. Have your mom go through her insurance and an adjuster will come out and tell you if it's the frame or something else that is bent. I sure hope she had insurance on you.
Q: parking light fuse 2004 toyota rav4?
in my toyota rav4 both parking lights are out and i suspect a fuse is blown. ive been looking in the owners manual for the fuse but cant find it, anyone know which one it is?
A: Left side under dash panel, check 7.5 amp "Tail" fuse, 15 amp "Tail/Panel" fuse, and 15amp "Panel" fuse. If it is only two corners, check bulbs. All 4 corner lamps and the license plate lamp are on the same circuit. If you do not have remote door locks, they are all off the "Tail" fuse, if you have remote door locks they can also be triggered thru the "Panel" fuse via the ECU. Both circuits are fed by the "Tail/Panel" fuse.
Q: Toyota Rav4 2004 model alarm problems?
I bought a toyota rav4 2004 model and found out that it doesn't have any auto lock if the speed went over 20 and if the door is not closed it will not alarm (I think it doesn't even have an alarm) is it really like this? Or is there something wrong with my car?
A: Toyota are not equipped with auto lock. Do you have a red button on dash?
Q: I have a 2004 Toyota Rav4 4wheel drive. Had tires rotated and now tires hum very loudly. Any ideas?
A: sometimes they do it when you go a bit to long in doing the switch check your air .. might have added more or didnt add any which could do it too
Q: VSC light in 2004 Toyota RAV4?
Recently, I had Fuels injector cleaning service done at Wal-Mart. After this service was done, the "Service Engine" and "VSC control" light in the dash board stays ON. I was told by Wal-Mart automotive service that the "Check Engine" light is ON since the fuel injector cleaning is done and the oxygen sensor is reading the oxygen-fuel ratio improperly. It will go OFF in 24 hrs. They did not take any responsibility for "VSC" light staying on. This light was not ON when i turned in my vehiclefor fuel injector cleaning service.
Are they telling me the truth about "Service Engine" and "VSC" light? Any advice would be appreciated.
A: Your light is for the "Vehicle Stability Control".
No, it has nothing to do with the Check Engine light. it is a part of the steering and braking system. take to the shop and explain what happened, they may find something unpluged or damaged. if so, wal mart should pay for the repairs or diagnostic charge. make sure you document either with pictures or by technician writing what they saw. I check for TSBs and recalls online and found that there is a bulletin to reprogram the VSC computer. This maybe another possibility.
The Check engine light is due to the cleaner, however if they improperly did the cleaning, this will damage the Oxygen Sensor. The cleaner will leave a film on it and the only way to fix it is to replace it.
If it doesn't go out on it's own, take it to a shop. Again, if the technician believes that it was due to wal marts cleaner, document it and take it to walmart.

Q: 2004 Toyota RAV4 door lock problem?
My RAV4's passenger door lock won't answer with my wireless key and the switch inside (the one on the door nob). I can still open from inside to push the lock button or from outside with my key. But it's very inconvinient... Does anyone know what's the problem and how can we fix it without taking it to dealer?
A: Remove the inner door panel and vapor barrier. Use a test light to determine if the lock solenoid is getting voltage when the lock or unlock button is pressed. Bear in mind however, that many vehicles require the switches (the ones attached to the door panel you removed) need to be connected to their harnesses for the locks to work. If voltage is not being applied here, you need wiring troubleshooting. If it is, then your lock solenoid is bad and you can order a new one. If you are not confident in your ability to test a lock solenoid's wiring then just swap solenoids from the driver's side and put all the switches back in place for testing. If the gripe follows its the solenoid.
Q: How can i tell if my parents 2004 (i think) Toyota Rav4 is FWD or AWD?
its the 04 im 90% sure, the one witrh the bonnet scoop and it says Sport on the back in red writing i dont know much bout it, its auto. how do i kno if its front or all wheel drive? and is there a way to turn off traction control if it has it which i think it might? thanks
A: Easy. Look at the rear axle. If it's just a thin bar running across from the left rear wheel to the right rear wheel, then it's FWD;if there's a mechanism in the middle where the axle goes then that's a differential and you have AWD. If this sounds confusing, just look for adriveshaft running from the front of the vehicle to the rear wheels underneath the vehicle. It will run down the middle of the bottom of the RAV(not the exhaust pipe). If yours has that shaft, then it's AWD; If not, it's FWD. That last answer either doesn't understand the question or has never seen a FWD RAV4 before.
Q: 2004 Toyota Rav4 - Tire Pressure Light Problem?
I need help. My tire pressure warning light comes on randomly whenever it feels like it (sometimes it'll come on 4 times in 1 day and then it won't for weeks after). I've taken it to the dealership and they keep saying there is nothing wrong the car. I check the tire pressure in the tires and they're all where they need to be. Does anyone have any suggestions or answers? Thanks!
hey Jimmy, that's exactly why i want to get this problem fixed because i can't take this car anymore (bought it used after a car crash as a quick fix but boy should i have just stuck it out with a rental car for a while...)
A: My friend had this on his scion, it all strted when he took his car to a "shady" place to fix a flat tire.
well, the pressure senson on the rims is a little electronic box INSIDE of the rim (or sometimes on the valve) that senses the tire pressure, if you had your tires worked on, they could have knocked it and it's malfunctioning.

Q: 3 door toyota rav4 2004, unsafe?
im thinking about buying a 2004 3 door rav 4 but iv heard people say they are unsafe cars as they are light in weight and reasonably high up is this true? If anybody has any info on the safety of them let me know,
much appreciated
A: Every car is unsafe. That's why we are trained and required to demonstrate our ability to be safe before they give us a license. However, if you don't abuse it, most cars are safe to operate as long as the maintenance is kept up and you aren't silly in your driving habits, or they would have not been allowed to sell them. The confusion comes from the old SUV testing that was done in the 80's trying to discredit the smaller suv's (isuzu, If I remember correctly) but if you see the whole video of the crashes they created, it took much more to make them roll over than any sane person would ever do.
