Q: How do I remove the spare tire on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Refer to your owners manual....Or...
First get the spare tire tools, in an extended cab tacoma the tools are under the rear passenger seat. Then assemble the pieces. Basically it's a really long hand crank with a hook at the end of it.
Then go to the rear of the truck, and look at the bumper, and above the license plate there's a little slot you stick the tool through into hole above the tire. After that you just crank the spare tire down.
Q: Towing a boat with an 1998-2000 Toyota tacoma.?
I'm thinking about trading my acura integra for my uncle's 1998 Toyota Tacoma. I like to fish too, so i'm thinking about purchasing a boat. The tacoma is a 4wd V6 5-speed xtra cab. The boat i'm wanting to get is a 15' boat with a 40hp motor with trolling motor and comes with a trailer. I approximate the total weight of the boat with trailer should be less than 2000lbs. I can't seem to find any information on the 1998 tacoma towing capabilities. I know that edmunds.com says that the max towing capacity is 5000lbs. But i also researched and people are saying that when towing with a manual drivetrain, you should half the towing capacity or something. So do you think it'll be safe to be towing a boat around with a 98 toyota tacoma? or better yet, whats the recommended max weight that i can tow safely with a 98 Tacoma? thx.

4 cylinder automatic with no problem...I have an outboard repair shop and when finished repairing I tow the boat to the ramp and back..The Toyota V-6 w/4wheel drive is more than enough for your application...

A: The regular 4wd gets 15 city/ 18 hwy, (EPA 2008 estimates) and with the supercharger, you can probably reduce that by about 10-20%.

A: Well, it all depends on how much bass YOU want. Some people are more than happy with a single 12" sub, some need more! If you can afford it, you can always just buy two to make sure....
The box placement is your opinion. Just switch the direction and see which way you like better. Different people like the box facing different ways.

I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. Lately I have noticed a click. Say I am on a slope up or down doesn't matter. I push the clutch in and take my foot off the brake. The transmission is in neutral and I hear a click. Its only after the truck has sat and its like there is load on the drive shaft. I have greased the fittings every weeks for the past three weeks and it doesn't help. Any suggestions? I am going to check the fluid in the transmission and transfer case. Thanks...
A: It could be a flat spot on the tires after setting for a while. I've seen this many times before. After the tires warm up the click goes away.

My 1998 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner V6 is vibrating heavily when it is at a stop but doesn't do it when it is going so I know it is not the tires or shocks. So what do you think is wrong with it because I took it to three certified mechanics already and they said three different things. The first one, I let him change what he thought it was which were the Spark plugs, all three ignition coils, and ignition wires but it didn't make a difference. So on the other two I went to, I told them that I will get it checked by another mechanic to confirm the problem. So the truck has a brand new ignition system and yes I used genuine Toyota parts which he ordered from the dealer. The second mechanic said it was the fuel injectors are clogged and has to be changed and the third one said it was the mounting of the engine. So after the first one I didn't let them change anything because it will cost me a lot of money buying parts that I do not need. Please I need your opinion on what is wrong with my truck. Thanks.

If i give her a shot of gumout throught the breather she will start.
Does this year truck have a fuel button if the truck was bumped, if so were is the location, i don't hear the fuel pump coming on.

A: how long has it been sitting? and how much fuel is there in the tank? depending on how long it's been sitting, the fuel may have coagulated and turned into varnish. clogging the fuel pump (or even burning it), lines and injectors.
there is no fuel button like some of the ford vehicles do.

i shift it into 4x4 fine both high and low the light on the dash comes on but the front wheels wont have power only the rears will spin. what could be the problem thanks.
