Q: How to turn off the overhead lights on a jeep with the doors off?
I have a 2005 soft top jeep wrangler. When I take off the doors the interior light stays on. Does anyone know how to get it off when I have my doors off.
A: You can get clips for a few bucks that hold the door switches in to keep the lights off. If you have your doors off a lot, wire in a switch to turn them on and off. You'll need to be sure it cuts power to both door switches.
Q: How difficult is it to change a blower motor in a 2002 jeep?
My blower motor in my 2002 jeep wrangler burned out. I have changed a blower motor out in a Ford Explore before, but the motors location on the jeep is inside the vehicle as opposed to the Explorer. Is this something I can do myself, or does it require special tools and training?
A: To Remove:
NOTE: The blower motor is located below the right side of the instrument panel. The blower motor can be removed without having to remove the instrument panel or the HVAC housing.
Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the screws that fasten the PCM to the mounting bracket on the engine compartment side of the dash panel.
Unplug the connector for the blower motor wire harness.
Remove the screws that fasten the blower motor and wheel assembly to the HVAC housing.
Turn and tilt the blower motor unit as needed for clearance to remove the blower motor and wheel from the HVAC housing.
To Install:
NOTE: Failure to install the blower motor assembly correctly could result in an air leak or the blower motor assembly becoming completely disengaged from the HVAC housing.
Line up and install the blower motor into the HVAC housing.
Install and tighten the screws that fasten the blower motor to the HVAC housing. Tighten the mounting screws to 20 in-lb (2.2 Nm).
Plug in the connector for the blower motor wire harness.
Position the PCM to the mounting bracket on the dash panel. Install and tighten the screws that fasten the PCM to the dash panel mounting bracket.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Test the blower motor for proper installation by turning the blower motor speed to high and checking around the outer edges of the blower assembly for air leaks. If any air leaks are found, reinstall the blower motor.
Q: How can I put a bumper back on a jeep when the bumper mounts have been damaged?
I've got a jeep that was in a collision - I'm trying to put the bumper back on. The mounts for the bumper are damaged and the metal is bent so they won't fit. Anyone know any tricks to help?
Or a shop I could go to that would not charge much - this isn't covered by insurance. I've got the bumper already - just need the mounts to be straightened.
A: Sounds like you answered your own question, you need to fix the mounts
Q: How do I disable the security mechanism in 1991 jeep cherokee?
My jeep doesn't start because the security system thinks there is a breach of security. I tried using the key in the driver's door and passenger door but it doesn't help. Is there a way to just reset it or completely disable the security system?
I can't tow it anywhere as I don't have that much money to pay for towing and the dealer
A: Yes take ( tow) it to the dealer and have the system shut off with the DRBII if it is a factory system, if its aftermarket, no idea
Q: What do i need to replace to make my jeep start right away?
my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo takes about 4-5 seconds to start after i have turned the key in the ignition. Im just wondering what i need to replace to get it to start normally in a short amount of time. the starter?
A: engine is fired by vaporising the fuel and igniting it... it is possible that the fuel injectors or other parts of the fuel system are dirty.. or that the ignition system such as spark plugs or or wires or coils, or distributor is not funcioning correctly. usually in cold temperature it take longer to start.. because the fuel takes more time to evaporate.. also use better fuel... more octanen rating makes the engine go longer... even though it doesnt seem that way... why do you think racing engine use 114+ octane fuel.. because it produces less predetonation...
Q: Does anyone know where I can get a pink jeep convertible with all the bells and whistles?
Also, I would like to find car art to permanently mount on the jeep. I own a boutique for kids and want two figures of kids on the row bar. Where can I get this?
A: Get the Jeep model of your choice, find a piece of cloth or colour sample that you like, and take it to a reputable car art shop or paint shop. ANY colour can be matched and your Jeep can be repainted and decorated as you wish.
Q: How long do Jeep Wranglers really last for?
I recently just bought 2000 Jeep wrangler Sahara, she has 90K on her. I heard the body will start to rust before the engine and its parts. It has the inline 6 cylinder, from what i heard one of the best engines? Are wranglers really that reliable? How long do they usually last before you need to start putting work into them?
A: I have a 2000 wrangler with the 4 liter straight 6. 157k miles, I have replaced the radiator and some seals on the differential. Nothing else besides the usual. Brakes, oil, tires etc. Very reliable still in great shape.I absolutely love it.
Q: How long does the average 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee last?
I understand this question will get many answers. I am aware of keeping the oil cleaned, keeping it maintained and trying to keep low miles on it will all help it live long. My Jeep has 79,260 miles on it and I consider that a damn good thing for it's year. I want to know how long will my Jeep last if I continue to maintain lower than average miles on it?
A: I passed on buying a Jeep Cherokee with 240,000 miles. It still ran great when I test drove it, but geez! At 240,000 miles, how much longer can it continue to run great?
I finally traded in my Cherokee when it was somewhere over 150,000 miles (the speedometer and odometer were out the last few years I owned it). I had to get one of the TJ's before they were replaced by the JK's.
Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of driving a jeep?
I going to be switching to a jeep wrangler soon, so I was wondering about advantages and such :)
A: Does a Jeep Wrangle suite your needs? This about it for a sec. I have had several Jeeps plus I have had a couple of wranglers and I currently drive daily an 06 Rubicon on 33" tyres and some mods, after having had my 94 YJ on 35" with lots of mods for a number of years. I drive a Jeep simply because I kayak, camp, hunt, climb, snowboard, and run trails. Simply my Jeeps suits me. Jeeps Accelerate good enough, handle ok, even when lifted, if you do it right, they get poor gas mileage, I get 14-15 mpg, in mixed driving. They do offer roll over protection and I have to say the only roll overs that I know of typically happen off road, and I know a LOT of Jeepers. Doe/will the vehicle do what you need it to do?
Q: What year did Jeep discontinue the inline 6 cylinder in the Wranglers?
Thinking about a Jeep, but I want the newest I can find with an inline 6. These are considerbly better engines than either the 6 or the 8 cylinder ones in my opinion.
A: You can purchase a Jeep as recent as 2006 with the inline 6. '07 is the only year with the new V6.
Q: What is the right way to put a 94 jeep Grand cherokee Limited in 4x4?
how to put a 1994 jeep grand cherokee in 4 wheel drive?
Do you have to put it in (N) can you be driven?
A: you can be driving when shifting from 2wd to 4H......you must stop to put it in 4L......
Q: How do you keep your radio stack in a Jeep Wranger secure and hard to steal?
I am looking to buy a Jeep Wrangler soft-top, however plan to add in a CB, ham, and 800 mhz radio system. What can I do to ensure that it would be safe to leave open-topped and difficult to steal these systems? Are there any special alarms or tools on the market?
A: http://www.quadratec.com/products/14134_01_07.htm
Try anything made by Tuffy. Their products rock and are impossible to break into.
Q: How do I fix my 2007 jeep wrangler from tire wobbeling aka death wobbeling?
I am having a problem where my front tires on my jeep wobble bad. My jeep has about a 4 inch lift with 35 inch tires. The wobbeling tends to start when i go under 45 mph as soon as i get to 45 mph or above it doesnt wobble nearly as bad. How do i fix it?
A: Tire balance, suspension, much else to check...
DO NOT let Stealership tell you it's your Steering Stabilizer
Changing SS will only mask underlying problem which could get unknowingly worse. I've heard Band-Aid on Skin Cancer analogy.
Q: How do I change my power windows on my jeep wrangler to manual windows?
When i bought the jeep the guy put power windows in and its so frustrating when i take off my doors off or when its time to put them back on rewiring the windows. I'd love to change it back to manual, so i was wondering how much it would cost and how to do it.
A: Check the junkyards, maybe find a set of doors you can rip the insides out of and swap them over. May have to just buy the doors and then gut them at your house or something. Possible that the guy still has the old regulators and such?
You will need to change over the window regulator, and the door panel so that you have a spot for the crank too.
