Q: Has anyone else had problems with the 2007/2006 honda civic's paint?
I bought a civic about 4 and 1/2 months ago and the paint on the hood is getting tiny chipped spots on the hood. Has anyone else have the same thing happening to their civics paint?

A: I own a shop, and my son has had the same problem as you. I would think there should be a recall on this problem. The paint just lets go, and falls off the vehicle. One thing that will help is to not go to those high pressure car washes, as they will help it come off quicker. Since paint is not a safety issue, I'm not sure how to make them fix it. One can report stuff to www.nhtsa.dot.gov and this might help enough people to get together and form a class action lawsuit against them. For some reason the top coat doesn't stick well to the car, and comes off real easy. If it's on the hood, you know they will say it is caused by stuff flying up off the road. My son has the top, and area above the trunk lid that are starting to look really bad. We have seen a few others doing the same thing, so I know its something that is the fault of the manufacture. Part 2: I don't claim to be a specialist in paint & body work, but I have restored many vehicles in my life. I will agree it does in fact sound like stone chips, and this rings true if its on the hood. I find it appauling to pay that much for any vehicle, and the paint start falling off that soon. To be fair, this is not the only brand of vehicle that has this problem. GM has been in many lawsuits for this same reason, and were ordered to fix it! To be even more fair; None of the vehicle manufactures make their own paint, and we all know profit is the bottom line here, so lay the blame where it need be. I have personally done several base coat - clear coat, and other laquer and/or enamel based paint jobs, and I know if the base coat is allowed to dry to fast, or too slow for that matter, it has been known to let go from the metal in spots just like what you are talking about. The wrong kind of paint put over top a paint that is not compatiable will do this too. Has your vehicle ever been in an accident? I have seen a dealer damage a vehicle, repair the damage, and sell the vehicle as new, so I don't think anyone should jump to any conclusions, as blame can be hard to prove sometimes. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: My daughter has a leak in the interior of her 2006 Honda Civic. What can cause this?
The leak is from the sunvisors on the driver and passenger side of the car. It leaks quite badly once the interior warms up in the winter time. The dealership says it is condensation and I am inclined to agree as it seems not to matter what the outside conditions are except it is in winter. Not sure if problem will still exist in summer. Has anyone had a similar problem and what is the fix? The dealership have seen this problem before but said they can try and fix it but no guarantees.

A: Sounds to me like a leak at the windshield. It gets inside the car, sits behind the molding or headliner and starts to drip inside when you move the car.

Q: What is the best bike rack for a 2006 Honda Civic Coupe?
I would like to fit 2 - 3 bikes on it. I have a sunroof, so a roof one probably wouldn't be good... Thanks!

A: That leaves you two choices: Either a strap-mounted trunk rack like a Saris Bones, or get a hitch installed so you can use a hitch-mounted bike rack. You can get a hitch with a 1.25" receiver for your Civic for around $150 or so. Places like U-Haul carries them and will install for a fee. A strap-mounted trunk rack is the cheapest option. Personally I like hitch-mounted racks better, even though it's a lot more expensive (you got to buy the hitch and the rack separately). They hold the bikes away from your car so you can still open the trunk, which you can't do with the strap-mounted racks. You also tend to get less dings and scratches on your car from the bikes with a hitch-mounted rack. Hope this helps.

Q: How do I remove the radio from my 2006 Honda Civic?
I need to install an adapter for my Sirius Radio but I have to remove the radio. I don't know how to do it. I was told that the ENTIRE dash has to come out. Can anyone out there in Yahoo Answers land help me?

A: Park your car in Compton, CA

Q: Who makes a catback exhaust system for the 2006 Honda Civic 4dr with the 1.8l 4cyl engine??
cant seem to find anything at all. They are all for the Si's which I know is because the Si is the performance car over the stock honda, however I want to add a catback just for added performance and sound any ideas who makes one for that certain model? Thanks in advance.

A: just do custom exhaust. most guys will go 2.5 in pipe. but i would recomend 2.25 pipe.

Q: what type of hadlight or bulb does a 2006 honda civic come with?
i was looking for new bulb or hadlights on the net and there were a lot of varieties that popped. i only need one side. im afraid to buy the wrong one which would make the left side maybe brighter than the right or vice versa.

A: Your low beam headlight is 9006. Depending on how dull or bright your other headlight is, you might want to change both of them.

Q: 2006 honda civic cd player says focus error?
My 2006 honda civic ex cd player says focus error when i put it in, i have tried every kind of cd but they all say the same thing. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know how to fix this without going to a dealer?

A: if you have the anti-theft code for the radio then you can try to reboot the cd player software by disconnecting both battery cables (negative first then positive) and holding the two disconnected terminal ends together for about 3 minutes. that will remove any residual voltage in the CD player that might have it locked. then reconnect that battery (positive first then negative). when the battery cables are reconnected you will need to enter the radio anti-theft code to reactivate the stereo. if you don't have the white plastic credit card size anti-theft code card that came with the car then look in the glovebox for a white sticker that has a 5 digit code on it. if you cant find it then call the dealer for the code. you'll need the serial number of the radio to do that. to get the serial number simply hold the radio buttons 1 & 6 in and then turn the radio ON. your display should show a series of 4 numbers after the letter U the switch to a series of 4 numbers after the letter L. that is the serial number the Honda dealer will need to retrieve your radio code. they can do that over the phone and there is no charge for that. if the radio doesn't respond to a reboot it would appear that the problem is in the head unit and it would probably be cheaper to replace the unit with an aftermarket unit than it would be to repair it. hope that helps

Q: A new battery for my 2006 Honda Civic?
I bought a new battery for my 2006 Honda, will it mess up the computer inside my car if I replace it myself? I dont want to take it to the shop and spend more money just to replace the battery. Thanks!

A: I have a '96 Civic - love it, had it from new. I've changed the battery many times over the last 12 years, never any problem other than having to key in the radio code again. Don't worry about it :) If you don't have the radio code, your local Honda dealer can look it up if you can prove ownership.

Q: How do I replace the Air Bag Control Module on a 2006 Honda Civic?
I have already disconnected the battery and replaced the crash sensors and air bags. Are special tools required?

A: The hardest part is finding it. It usually will be under the seat or under the dash. while the battery is off you simply replace it like you did the sensors. Plug it in and bolt it down. You might still have a light on the dash and you will need to have that reset.

Q: i have a 2006 honda civic and the engine block its craked?
i wanna know if they change it means that im gonna have a new engine??? or what exactly is an engine block ???? 10points!! yeahh its under warranty!!! so i wasn just wondering is it gonna be a new engine?

A: Bottom line is, if you crack the block, you get a new engine.

Q: Where is my air filter located in my 2006 Honda Civic?
I searched through my owners manual and it doesn't show me at all. It doesn't have any diagram for my engine and I am clueless.

A: look at the engine. to ur right is the black intake hose thats probably about 8-10 inches long on ur car. at the end of that hose is a rectangular black box. (towards the back of the engine bay) there are either bolts or clips holding this box shut. remove those and lift the box, theres ur filter. good luck!

Q: Is the 2006 Honda Civic MP3 input being recalled?
The 2006 Honda Civic has a direct input for an MP3 player, and when I plug my iPod directly in with a cable, it seems like the sound is only coming through my front left speaker strong and very weak through my other speakers. Plus it sounds pretty crappy. Whereas a regular CD sounds great and is equally distributed through all my speakers. I know the sound quality of an MP3 player isn't as good as CD, but that doesn't explain how the sound is distributed through my speakers. It almost doesn't make me want to listen to music through my iPod. My friend said he heard that Honda knows about the problem and is recalling the MP3 player input in the car to fix it. I couldn't find anything online that mentions the recall. Does anyone else have this problem in their car? Have you found a way to resolve it? Have you heard anything about this supposed recall? Thanks in advance for your help. :-)

A: Actually I am unaware of a so called recall. However we have stopped sale on our musiclink IPOD acessory to match an update Apple is doing to their newer IPODS. Most MP3's have a varying sound quality depending upon source you recorded downloaded from. I have been disappointed with sound quality as well.

Q: best way to connect an ipod to a 2006 honda civic?
i would rather not use an FM transmitter. any ideas? i have a 5.5 gen 30gb ipod video and a 2006 honda lx, without navigation or anything. thanks

A: I found the best thing since sliced bread...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01 It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel. It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch. This is the answer. Totally versatile. Here's one in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHBI0LBGhR0

Q: How do I install an auxilliary audio input in my 2006 Honda civic Sedan automatic?

A: If its the stock deck, then you would have to take out the entire CD player and there would be a port in back, but it wouldn't be a 9mm like your thinking. it would be something else and it would be much easier if you have a ipod would be http://musiclink.honda.com/ but if not most car audio and video places could install one for around 200
