Q: How do I identify what honda vehicle these crossbars belong to?
I have Honda crossbars for a roof rack, the person I bought them from said that they were for a honda pilot. Little did I know that they were not for a honda pilot cause the are to narrow. They have indented numbers on the bases but every time I search them online they dont shoe up or cross reference to anything, They are OEM but no dice as to what vehicle they are for.

A: One possibility is that the crossbars COULD belong to a Pilot, but they may not belong to the current (or particular) model year. Another option is that they do belong to another vehicle, but just not those that of a current generation of production making their part number not-so-prominent. The best place to look first would be your local Honda dealer's parts desk. You can simply call and provide them with whatever numbers you have and they'll tell you what they come up with. They have access to Honda's full catalog (recent past and present); and they're also familiar enough with the part numbering convention to know what you're reading to them and perhaps anything further they might need to identify them accurately. Another option would be to measure the cross bars and query "Honda", "crossbars", and their width. That might provide you with an item detail page for the same product if the number you happen to have isn't relevant or if it happens to be from a much older model year or different model. A final opportunity would be to go where all sorts of obscure parts can be found, eBay. You can then search for "Honda crossbars" (and perhaps their color or width), and see what comes up. You may even be able to use any pictures accompanying the items to compare them to yours. You're then able to communicate with the seller and perhaps ask for any information they may have which might be helpful in further identifying yours. Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: What kind of honda dirtbike should i buy?
I am 13 years old and i weigh about 150. I have been riding a honda xr70r for about 7 or 8 years. I would say im kind of aggressive. Im out growing it and it doesnt go fast enough or have enough power. I prefer honda.

A: outta being a honda fan myself and riding red for as long as i can remeber, i'd go with a crf150r or a crf250x. i've ridden the 250x and i've literally fallen inlove with it. awesome bike all @ and is a good bike for anyone looking for a good riding time in the trails or on the track. 5/5 for the crf250x in my eyes.

Q: What Honda repairs can only be done at the dealership?
I was recently informed at Honda that the transmission fluid and the power steering fluid are exclusively a special type for Honda. This was confirmed for me when I priced a fluid flush at a AAA tune up place. I've never taken my 2004 Honda Civic any place else. Now it will need the belts replaced and the tires need to be realigned. Honda's service prices seem so inflated. What can I get done for cheaper without it costing the health of my car?

A: Anything that can be done at the dealer can be done by an independent mechanic. However it helps if the independent mechanic was once a Honda trained mechanic who has now gone into business for himself. The dealer will know your car best but there are a lot of independent mechanics that can do most of what your vehicle needs. Anyone can change the transmission fluid. While it is true that you should only use Honda fluid, you can buy Honda fluid at a Carquest auto parts store or buy it at the dealer and take it to the mechanic of your choice. DON'T back-flush a Honda automatic transmission unless you are looking for trouble. Simply drain it and refill it. Belts don't normally need to be replaced until you have 110,000 miles on the car. [see page 139 of your owner's manual] And while the owner's manual says to replace the transmission fluid at 120,000 miles some dealers and owners will change it every 30,000 miles instead. Why? Because at 120,000 miles Honda wants you to drain it and refill it a number of times: This is what it says on page 149 of your owner's manual: "To thoroughly flush the transmission, the technician should drain and refill it with Honda ATF-Z1, then drive the vehicle for a short distance. Do this three times. Then drain and refill the transmission a final time." So it says to drain and refill it 3 times with a short drive between each drain and refill then it says to drain and refill it a final time. to me that make 4 times. Why didn't they just say four times to begin with? Anyway when you drain the transmission only 2.9 quarts drain out but the transmission holds 6.2 quarts of fluid. So every time you drain it and refill it you still have 3.3 quarts of old fluid in the transmission which is why they want you to drain and refill it a number of times to get out most of the old fluid. If you drain and refill it 4 times that will mean you need to buy 12 quarts of fluid at $6.50 to $8 a quart depending on where you buy it. So the fluid alone will cost you a minimum of $78. It makes more sense to simply drain and refill it every 30,000 miles at one fourth the cost each time. There are other fluids at a lower cost that claim to meet Honda specs but most Honda owner's will use Honda's own fluid thinking that it is better to be safe than sorry. As I said there are times when your dealer knows best. I recently had a wheel bearing replaced in our 2002 CR-V and when I got the vehicle back the ABS light was on meaning that the ABS [anti-lock braking system] was not working. It wasn't until I talked to a mechanic that worked for a Honda dealership that I found out what was wrong. It seems that this particular year and model uses a wheel bearing with one side of the bearing that is magnetic as a sensor for the ABS. If the bearing is put in backwards with the magnetic side out rather than in then the ABS won't work. In my case that wasn't the problem. Instead an LX bearing was put in. The LX bearing has no magnetic side since only the EX had ABS for that year. Once the right bearing was installed everything worked fine. My mechanic was totally unfamiliar with this system, as was the parts house where he bought the bearing. However the Honda dealer's mechanics would have known. I have never and will never pay a dealer to replace the timing belt and other belts. You can get it done for half the price somewhere else.

Q: Where can I find a good quality Honda or Toyota?
I could really use a car for this school year and I am having trouble getting my dad to go out looking at cars with me. Does anyone know a good website for good quality cars under $10000? Preferably a honda or toyota since we've had good luck with them. I've looked at craigslist and carmax so far.

A: What i think you should do my friend is to go to a Honda dealer or Toyota dealer you will find much better deal, forget about buying on line you can look just have in idea but don't buy nothing like that on line remember you need warrant ok and i'm sure you will find under the price you looking for.

Q: 1992 honda wont start, Battery is good, only emergency lights work.?
I own a 1992 honda civic that has been fully operational until a few days ago. I went out to start it but nothing turns on, none of the electrical components work. The only thing that will turn on are the emergency lights. The battery is new and charged. The headlights do not work , only the emergency flashers. I do not know much about cars, where might the ground be located. Would it be worth it to try and replace the fusible link?

A: I would of said to check the ground but since the emergency flashers work then I'm guessing the ground is good.Do the headlights come on? if the headlights turn on then you are definitely getting a good ground.I would suspect the ignition switch needs to be replaced the diodes inside are not making a good contact. It never hurts to check your fuses start with the engine fuses first also recheck your battery terminal connections

Q: My Honda outboard is not pumping. Does the lower unit have to be completely in the water?
I have a 2001 50hp Honda Outboard, and we were running it on the land after some maintenance in a tub of water. The lower unit was not completely under water. Does it have to be to pump water?

A: The tub needs to hold about 120 gal of water and be at least 30" deep, like a cattle trough, even then you can only run the motor at limited throttle. Assuming you have ear-muffs (flush attachment) which is fed by a water hose, then you can run at limited max rpm. Depending on the maintenance you did, you might not be deep enough in your pail to keep the water pump from sucking air, thus it will overheat in seconds and might need to be replaced. I've seen people at ramps, climb on the boat and start their outboards. These are the same people who can't understand why they need a new impeller is only a couple months. I wish you well, and that lady luck smiles at you.

Q: How much will a honda accord bumper and trunk replacement cost?
I rear ended a honda accord at 5 mph. My massive yukon ate it for breakfast. Theres not a scratch on my trunk but the honda's rear bumper and trunk will need to be replaced. Anyone know how much its going to run me?

A: A rear deck will run better than 500 for parts and the bumper will run at least 200. If it's a dealership service, the repair is at least 80 an hour for labor, but probably in the 100 an hour range. I estimate 6 hours, so you are on the hook for at least $1500. This sounds like something to turn into your insurance after you've asked about accident forgiveness programs.

Q: What is the fluid capacity of a 1997 Honda Prelude automatic transmission?
I want to change the ATF in my 97 Honda Prelude Automatic. How much do I need to buy?

A: when you change the fluid you will not get all the fluid out the torque convertor will still have 3-4qts in it so you'll only need to get 3-4 qts put about 2 1/2 qts in then start car and add a little more till it reads on top of stick move car a couple of feet then check again till it is full always check in neutral and use honda approved fluid if you don't you'll get harsh shifts

Q: How do you check the transmission fluid on 94 Honda Passport?
My sons Honda Passport just barely made it up our driveway last night. My hubby not sure how to check transmission fluid. How do you check the transmission fluid on this vehicle and what type of transmission fluid should be used?

A: is the car a manual or an automatic transmission? if it is an automatic transmission there will be a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level. the transmission uses Dextron IIE fluid. There may be a later version that is compatible. that fluid should be available at any parts store. if its a manual trans, the fluid is checked by taking a blind plug out of the side of the transmission. the fluid should be level with the top of the plug hole. hope that helps

Q: Once you apply at a Honda dealership do u have to reapply at another Honda?

Q: Is Honda brand engine coolant the best for a Honda vehicle or are there other equivalent engine coolants?
I've read that if you don't use Honda coolant, this can and will cause serious engine damage. Is that true?

A: Dex cool is good for all.

Q: How much does it cost to replace a timing belt on a Honda Accord 2001?
Honda did a check up on my car (2001 Honda Accord) and they said my timing belt needs to be replaced for $2,000. My car has 110,000 miles. How much should it cost to be replaced? $2,000 seems like a rip off to me.

A: It sure does. Without replacing the water pump (which I strongly recommend - it adds about $100 and saves you a potential calamity) the 4 cylinder engine is about $350-$550 where I live and the V6 is $425-$600. Change the belt and water pump and spend the other $1400 on something nice.

Q: How much time does it take for the Porsche to catch the Honda?
Two cars, a Porsche and a Honda, are traveling in the same direction, although the Porsche is 184 m behind the Honda. The speed of the Porsche is 23.9 m/s and the speed of the Honda is 17.9 m/s. How much time does it take for the Porsche to catch the Honda? [Hint: What must be true about the displacements of the two cars when they meet?]

A: Hey! Here's the entire answer to your question. Let's first identify the values we're given: d = distance Porsche is behind Honda = 184 m V = speed of Porsche = 23.9 m/s v = speed of Honda = 17.9 m/s The "hint" in the problem asks what must be true about the displacements of the cars when they meet? Well, the displacements must be EQUAL if they meet: displacement of Honda = displacement of Porsche or d(Honda) = d(Porsche) Now let's figure out what these displacements are. Assume that the INITIAL position of the Porsche is d = 0. Then: d(Honda) = d + v*t d(Porsche) = V*t Now we equate these two values: d + v*t = V*t Here t = time, which is what we're solving for. Rearranging terms to solve for t: t = d / (V-v) = 184 m / (23.9 m/s - 17.9 m/s) = 30.66 seconds So the Porsche will catch up to the Honda in 30.66 seconds. That's your answer! anaGah.

Q: How to give my Honda lease to someone else?
Did some searching can't find any good results, Will probably end up calling Honda but I would like some information before I go on the phone to know what will possibly happen. Can I easily give my lease to someone else, how does it work?

A: Yes, you can transfer the lease... but it depends entirely on whether Honda's lease allows it. Other companies who allow transfers will require that the original lessee remain responsible for the obligations of the lease if the new lessee defaults. Therefore, it is advised that anyone considering a lease transfer contact their lease company or bank prior to taking any further action. http://www.leaseguide.com/sn/lease-transfer.htm

Q: I have an 89 Honda Accord LXI and the front speakers are blown. Anyone know the easiest way to replace them?
I hae an 89 Honda Accord LXI. The front speakers are blown and sound HORRIBLE. I want to know if anybody knows how to replace them. Do I need to remove the whole door panel? If so, how do I go about it? Thanks for any help I can get!

A: NO you do not have to take off door panels. There is 2-4 screws around the speaker, that will take off the cover. Then 2-4 that will remove the speaker itself. Waaalah!
