Q: I want to buy a GMC Acadia for my business and take advantage of the SUV/Truck tax incentive?
This is per IRS AJCA of 2004, section 280F, and section 179. The problem is the Acadia is NOT built on a truck frame. It meets the Gross Vehicular Weight of greater than 6000 pounds, but it is sketchy in the IRS rules of whether or not it is elegible for the 25% first year deduction. How can I tell if the GMC Acadia qualifies for this IRS deduction?
A: I'm not aware of any SUV "incentive", especially under Section 179. Actually, there is a DIS-incentive for SUVs in Section 179 that limits Section 179 deductions on most big SUVs to $25,000 regardless of the price paid. If the Acadia is over 6,000 lbs, it's in the restricted group.
Q: What is the small switch/knob at the side of a GMC Suburban steering wheel for please?
There is a small sort of knob which has to be pulled out and turned right next to the steering wheel on my 1995 GMC Suburban. Could someone please tell me what this is for and also how I can adjust the (time) clock please?

Thanks for the answers so far but it's defiantely neither of those.
A: 4 way emergency flashers perhaps.
Q: What is the difference between a GMC YUKON and a CHEVY TAHOE?
I know that one is made by GMC and the other is made by Chevy (obviously!), but what are the other differences? They look pretty much the same to me...also, is one better than the other? Thanks!
A: Really no difference they our put together on the same assembly line. Gm has just always said that GMC is like the Cadillac of trucks etc.. There is really no difference though other than the name and maybe a few more options.
Q: How much work is involved in swapping my current GMC 350 gas engine for a 6.6L duramax diesel engine?
I recently purchased an '88 GMC K1500 and the previous owners had thrown a worn out 350 GMC motor in it. Since the current motor is almost toast, I feel like taking on a project by swapping my 350 gas engine for a 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine. I am just curious on knowing what i will have to change along with the motor; i.e. -driveshafts, transfer case, diffs maybe?...anything will help.
A: More then its worth. Simple answer.
You are trying to take an engine that will not mount to the stock mounts, which mounts to an Allison transmission that doesn't mount in your vehicle without "modifying" more then I care to think about. You'll need a new computer, a new fuel tank and lines, the engine and Transmission, a new drive shaft (probably a custom one), if you have 4WD, then you'll bee looking for a new transfer case and a way to make the new transfer case link to the front axle. You'll also need the transmission computer, an all new fuel filter set up with a water separator, and you'll have to decide weather you are going to use Hydro-Boost or vacuum boost brakes.
That's just a little bit of the work you have ahead of you. THEN, once it all done....IF it works, welcome to the world of trying to get your vehicle at proper ride height and keep it in alignment.
Q: What would cause the cruise control to not work on a 1992 GMC?
Its a 1992 GMC sierra 2500 and the cruise control doesn't work when i try to set it.
A: The most common problem is either a bad clockspring or cruise control actuator.
Q: How do I calibrate the outside air temperature display on my 2002 GMC Yukon?
On my 2002 GMC Yukon, my outside air temperature display on my rearview mirror is off by about 2 degrees. How do you calibrate the temperature?
A: as far as I know, it's not adjustable and it could be off because of a worn out temp sensor. I have the same truck with flex fuel 5.3. love it and my temp is off 1° but then again how do you know what your comparing it to, is accurate?
Q: What rear end gear ratio in my GMC Sonoma will give me the highest top speed without loosing take off power?
I have a 98 GMC Sonoma with a 4.3L V6 that is quick but definitely has more power, I want to turn that power into speed.
A: ok, let me give you the lecture that i heard years ago on this matter. in rear end ratios, 3.50:1 is the ideal ratio, it gives you both power and fuel economy, not the bast of both but the happy mid point. closer to a 1:1 ratio will give you better fuel economy and as i see it a higher top speed, but you will have to be patient getting there. now the 4.11:1 ratio that we have all heard of is a torque monster that consumes fuel like there3 is no tomorrow. stick with a 2.50 ratio or something like that.

This vehicle is a 1997 GMC Savana G3500 - 1 ton cutaway with 14' Box, 10,000gvw with dual rear wheels. Eight bolt pattern with the steel ring. This ring has 2 nubs opposite each other and goes between the lug nuts and the wheel. There are not any crush washers on the lug nuts. Also please specify if torque is in ft.lbs or newton metre. Q: How to shift gmc suburban into drive from park?
The only way to shift my 1997 gmc suburban is by disabling the battery, shifting to neutral, then reconnecting and starting it. people keep saying it is an extra battery that is hidden?? how might i fix this???
my brake lights are working. it will shift but when it goes to park it wont shift out of it.
A: Here is another way to get it out of park. Turn the ignition switch just off of the lock position, but not to the ON position. This takes the manual park locking mechanism out of the picture but doesn't apply voltage to the interlock solenoid. Give it a try. You can shift it to neutral at that point and then start the engine.
Q: What is the best audio setup for a GMC envoy?
I am thinking about upgrading my audio system in my 04 GMC Envoy. It has the Bose premium sound system, but I want ipod connectivity and I just want to replace it. My budget is $600-700. I want to get a new head unit with the ipod feature, and it has to be able to control the ipod. Also, I want to replace all the speakers that came with the car, and if there is any money left, I would like to get a Sub or two and an amp.
A: Save more money, for what you want to do, it will be more than the budget of $600-$700...
Q: Problems with electronic climate control panel in 92 GMC suburban?
I have a 92 GMC suburban, that has an electronic ac / heater control panel. It will not switch between blowing the air through the vents or floor, and the part of the display that shows where the air is blowing flashes. I have tried resetting it by disconnecting the battery, but still happens. Is the control panel going bad, or is there a problem with the air flaps / switches that actually change where the air goes? A new panel is $200 and do not want to buy one just to find out I still have the same problem. Thanks
A: Only a dealer or a good shop can do this--they will troubleshoot the issue and give you an estimate--92??? That stuff does go bad and it is your turn.
Q: How much to replace a lost key for a gmc canyon?
My husband lost the only key for our truck. It is a GMC Canyon, 2005 I think. How much will this cost?
A: if your key was the kind that has a chip in it proably $150.00 or more.
My wife lost one of our keys to our for a 2005 Doge Caravan and to replace it was $150.00 so we are down to one key.
I tried haveing a regular key made for it at Wallmart but that key will unlock the door and everything but when i try to start the engine it just starts then shuts off right away.
Q: How do I find the Auto theft code for 2005 GMC Sierra trk? Upon reconnecting battery, will need to input code?
I need to know how to find the Auto theft code for my 2005 GMC Sierra truck. After replacing new battery, the vehicle will require that I input the auto theft code in order to reconnect the radio. Where do I find this code?
A: your local GMC dealer should be able to get the code from the manufacture. by using your vehicles VIN. numbers. i don't know what if any charge there will be. they will ask for proof of ownership. you must go in person. they won't give out this info. over the phone. i'm sure you understand why. if for some reason they can't . they should be able to tell you how to get the codes. i'm Pretty certain they will be able to help you.
Q: What do you like more, the Ford Escape or the GMC Terrain?
They look about the same in price, size, and basic style. The GMC might have more standard features. But Ford quality might be better overall.
Which of these vehicles do you prefer?
A: Definitely the Ford Escape. We have a 2001 Escape. Got it a year ago with 80,000 on it and have had no problems. Regular maintainence only. 20 mpg intown , all wheel drive v6.
GM has quality issues and has had for many years now.
Sure the Terrain is all new.Same old crappy engineering and crappy GM spec'ed parts .
Quality and reliability - go with Ford.
