It has a V6 engine and a automatic transmission.
I found a replacement radiator online for $133.95 but I just need to know how much the labor will be and how many hours is listed in the shop rate book for this particular job.

Q: how do i change the thermostat on a 2005 ford escape xlt?
how do i change the thermostat on a 2005 ford escape xlt?
A: the thermostat will most likely be located near the engine base the is attached to the hose running from the top of the radiator.
if you have a book for your model car the instructions are simple to follow look under radiator and cooling systems in the manuel.
also you need to pay close attention to the direction of the remove so that you know the proper replacement direction upon application of the new unit.
Q: Anyone know where I can get a spoiler for a 2005 Ford Escape Limited in Gold Ash Metallic? Also, how much? ty
Anyone know where I can get a spoiler for a 2005 Ford Escape Limited in Gold Ash Metallic? I've seen a couple pictures online but they aren't as detailed and I haven't seen around my way. I don't know much about these things and I'm trying to learn so I'm looking for some tips as to where I can get them from and at a reasonable price. Thanks in advance.
A: Junk yard or salvage yard. They usually let you look around and negotiate the price. Take a guy with you for safety.
Q: Anyone know why the engine light on a 2005 Ford Escape would come on at 40K miles and the temp gauge read hot?
The Escape is a 2005 2.3 4 cylinder. It was running great. Had it in the dealership in October, 07. No problems. Then today the engine light came on and the temp gauge was showing hot.
I did notice the fan running when I first opened the hood but then it just went off. Any ideas before I let the Auto Shop gauge me?
A: Bad t-stat, blocked radiator, blown head gasket, bad temp sensor. Could be any number of things. Need more information. Coolant being forced out of overflow container or bubbling in it?
Q: 2005 ford escape that makes a popping noise when you turn or hit a bump?
i have a 2005 ford escape and it makes a loud popping noise when i hit a bump or turn could anyone please tell me what is going on it is a v6 automatic with four wheel drive thanks
A: Some 05 and 06 escapes had bad shocks from the factory. Contact a dealer or Ford customer service. You'll need your VIN.
Q: Has anyone had a problem with defective wheel bearings in a 2005 Ford Escape?
My Escape started making a noise at about 35,000 miles. At the time the dealership said it was the tires. I replaced the tires. The noise did not change at all and now has progressively worsened and now they are telling me the right, left AND center wheel bearings need to be replaced (at my expense since now the car has 42,000 miles). They did say the bearings are still sealed and there is no water damage and no other obvious damage. I think they must be defective and Ford should replace them as from what I understand it would be very unlikely for all 3 to just go out at 35,000 miles. I'd like to know if Ford has addressed this problem for anyone else and also if anyone has any ideas on how to make Ford provide the parts and repairs at no cost to me.
A: I searched at the NHTSA-odi (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration - office of defects investigations)website & found no other ; complaints, recalls, investigations, or technical service bulletins regarding wheel bearings on '05 Ford Escapes.
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
When it was recommended to replace the tires at 35000
miles & that did NOT solve the problem, you should have let the service dept. know this IMMEDIATELY.
It seems unusual (to me) that you would replace tires that soon, but I have no idea as to what kind of driving conditions you have.
Waiting, to complain, for another 7000 miles & an expiring warranty was not a wise decision on your part.
You should call Ford Customer Assistance The contact information & procedure is in your owners manual.

Q: Is the 2005 Ford Escape a good vehicle?
I'd like to have answers from Ford Escape owners.
Like, is it good on the roads and such?
Are there any safety issues?
How much will it cost to fill the tank at an average of $1.29/litre of gas?
Also, what does it come with? Can I pay to have to have some things added on? I'm talking about GPS Navigation System, will I have to buy one for the Escape or will it come with one?
A: This suv is a very good all around vehicle as far as gas milage they are very good on gas. About the GPS I am not sure if it comes with an 05 but the new ones do but u can buy very nice GPS's for as low as $300.
Go with the explorer and it wont let you down.
I have a 2007 explorer with 156,236 miles and it still runs like new.
Get a ford after all it is First On Race Day
Q: How can I remove the front brake rotors from my 2005 Ford Escape?
Do I need to remove the central wheel bearing nut? How hard should i have to hit the rotor to unstick it? Could I break something if i hit it too hard?
A: With the vehicle jacked up, remove the front wheels. Remove the brake caliper retaining clip that faces the outward side of vehicle. Remove the two plastic grommets on the inboard side of brake caliper. Remove the two caliper slide pins (7mm allen head). Remove the two 18mm brake pad and caliper bracket retaining bolts. Remove bracket. With a hammer, tap evenly on brake rotor until it "falls" off. DO NOT REMOVE THE AXLE SHAFT NUT. Hope this helps.
Q: Can you tow a 2005 Ford Escape FWD Hybrid flat or do you have to use a dolly?
I want to buy a used 2005 that I like, but need to know if I can tow it behind my motorhome without using a dolly (flat tow)
Both the 2007 and 2008 Ford Escape FWD Hybrids can only be flat towed or flat trucked, but not the 2005? Can the 2005 be modified to flat tow it?
A: it is a direct drive transmission. no clutches. trans is always engaged. so no real neutral. so towing it flat will cause damage.
Q: How do I know if the Automatic 4WD for my 2005 Ford Escape works?
I've driven in blizzards and almost slipped off the road, but did not feel as though the AWD kicked on. The system light shows the 4WD when I start the car, but I have never seen it come on with about 40,000 miles on the car.
A: I am with IANF, his idea is right on. Find a patch of ice or some loose dirt and floor it. Have you friend watch the tires to see if they all spin without the car moving. Obviously if you do it in loose dirt dont have your friend stand behind the car or have anything behind the car that can be damaged by flying rocks.
Trust me, if you do this, exspecially on ice you will know right away if your AWD is working. Either your friend will see all the tires spin before you move or only the front tires will be moving. It will be extremely obvious. I have seen cars with AWD on ice when they are trying to move in a difficult situation you can see all of there tires spin, it is extremely obvious.
Q: I bought a 2005 Ford Escape in the US. How do I add or activate Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for Canada?
I've seen kits on ebay, but I'm not sure if I actually require a kit, or if the car is already equipped with the necessary hardware and only needs a small change, or adjustment.
A: DRLs on 2005 model year Ford Escapes are controlled by the smart junction box (SJB). To activate this feature requires bringing it to your nearest Ford dealer where they can "reconfigure" the SJB with the IDS scan tool to enable DRLs to operate. Do not install any aftermarket devices. To do so is only asking for trouble. Hope this helps.
