Q: Which dual exhaust system is better for my 1998 ford mustang v6?
I have a 1998 ford mustang 3.8L and I was wondering which dual exhaust system to buy. I've looked at several brands but I haven't bought it yet. I'm looking for a better sound and better horsepower.
A: Magnaflow is good . There will be more sound but horsepower on any exhaust is minimal.
Q: What fuse controls the fan in a 1998 ford mustang?
what number is the fuse that controls the fan by the radiator in a 1998 ford mustang?
A: It will be in the fuse box under the hood. It will say something like RAD FAN or it might be with a few things. If the fans not working it could be the the switch. An easy way to make sure the fan is working is to turn of the AC. Whenever the AC is on the rad fan will come on too. Use this to also test the relay and the switch.
FYI: You also can wire the fan to always run when the car is on by bypassing the switch.
Good luck.
Q: What price should we ask for a 1998 Ford Mustang?
What price should we ask for my daughter's 1998 Ford Mustang. It's a 3.8 stick shift. It's silver, very clean. Cloth interior. It's just a six cylinder.

Q: Help with 1998 Ford Mustang Headlight troubleshooting / problem?
I have a 1998 ford mustang and the headlights have recently gone out. I saw them flickering when I went around a corner last week and then they worked fine after the turn, but now however they don’t. Here are some more details...
-When i pull the headlight switch, both front parking lights (ambers) come on as well as the rear taillights.
-The Brights seem to work when I pull backwards on the turn signals (is that called flash to pass?) But do not work when I click it forward (so you don't have to hold it down)
-I have checked some fuses but not sure if I checked the right ones.
-I have inspected the connections to the light housing to some degree and see no obvious problems.
-The turn I mentioned earlier did use the turn signal if that affects at all.
A: When you open the hood you will see a small green bolt just above each headlight. This is a ground point. Check to be sure these are tight. If they are, you most likely need a new multifunction switch (headlight, turn signal, high beam all-in-one). Cost at the dealer is around $150.00. Usually have it in stock. They go bad quite often. Very easy to install. Pull 3 screws from plastic steering column cover, tilt wheel completely down and unscrew tilt handle. Remove lower cover and raise upper cover. You will see 2 torques head screws holding the switch on. remove them and unplug 2 wire connectors. Replace in reverse sequence. Also check the wire connectors to make sure the retainer clips are not broken.
Q: what is the max flow of a 1998 ford mustang fuel pump flow?
i have a 1998 ford mustang with a 3.8 v6 and i want to know what is the max flow of the fuel pump?
A: I think the stock pump was 170 liters/hour...
Q: How to adjust the throttle cable on a 1998 Ford Mustang GT?
I just put on a poweraid throttle spacer on my 98 Mustang GT & now there is way to much play in the throttle cable. The pedal is way too close to the floorboard. I have both the Haynes and Chilton manuals and neither show how to adjust it. Does anyone know how to adjust the cable to get rid of extra slack? Thanks for your help.
A: take it to a mechanic.
Q: Is there a Fuel Light on a 1998 Ford Mustang GT??
I have a before mentioned 1998 Ford Mustang GT. And when the gas gets low the low fuel light never turns on.
I mean does it not even have one or could it be blowned. When the gas gets low it will go the the E and just sit there while I drive. I've gone probaly 40 or more miles(haven't gone any further just in case it does run out of gas) while it's been really close or even on the E part.
Does the engine just take alot of gas and make it go lower while i'm drving or what, but when I turn it off it will go back up to like half way between a quarter and the E mark.
Idk what to do, i'm afraid i'm gonna just run out of gas one time. THNX everyone.
Also hoe much does the gas tank hold?
When it is supposedly low, not ever sure because of the light but when it seems low It ends up taking about 15 galls or so. So does it have 16 or like a 17 gallon tank. It cost 42 dollars last week when the price of gas was 2.99 and I put 15 gallon in or soemthing.
A: well you could have a problem with the float in the tank or you dont have a fuel light.
Q: Will my 1998 Ford Mustang make it across the country?
My mustang is in good condition, as far as I know. It has never given me any type of problem. It is 11 years old though and I do not know how much longer it will last. I have always kept up on maintenance- oil changes, tires, air filters, etc. I am moving from the East coast to the West coast and I am wondering if it will make it and if it will last me a while after I get there.
A: If you have taken care of it and it has never given you problems, I see no reason why the car would not make it. Keep maintaining it and you can drive it for many many years.
Consider taking it to a mechanic for a pre-trip inspection. They can tell you if they find anything wrong or that needs immediate servicing. Might be worth $75 or so to have some peace of mind before you hit the interstates.
Q: I bought a 1998 Ford Mustang that has been setting for two years will it be okay to drive?
Hasnt been moved, started, and Im afraid that if i try to start it that it might lock it up.
A: Remove the spark plugs and squirt/saturate
10w30 oil down the p-ston holes and change the oil and filter in the crank case. Tow the car to a garage that can suck out all the old transmission oil and replace with new Valvolene Transmission fluid... Make sure the car stops and change brake fluid. You have a lot of fluids to change and must be done to keep the muatang out of a wreck.. change belts and replace radiator fluid. Replace the thermostat...
Q: Why does my 1998 Ford Mustang GT idle weird when I put the ac on?
The engine runs fine without it - idles at about 1k rpm, but when I turn on the ac the rpm's surge up to about 1.5k, then back down to 1k. It does this the entire time the ac is on. I've only had the car for two weeks and its been doing it ever since. Any advice? Thanks.
A: The compressor for the AC is putting a load on the engine which in turn lowers the idle because it is harder for the low compression at idle to turn the ac compressor because it is basically an air pump.
Q: How do you take a starter off a 1998 Ford Mustang?
We've been under the car trying to take it off but there is something on the top of the starter so we can't take it out. I tried to angle the back of the starter and take it out that way but it keeps getting caught on something behind it.
A: Did you remove all THREE starter bolts (if it's equipped with the 4.6L SOHC V8)? The top third bolt is difficult to access on this particular vehicle. You may need a LONG extension and flex-head 13mm socket to access it. Hope this helps.
Q: Would a 1998 Ford Mustang daschboard fit on a 2001 ford mustang?
I have to replace my dashboard of a 2001 ford mustang and I found one from a 1998 Ford Mustang, I was just wondering if it will be alright electrically and everything else.
A: nope nope nope nope nope itll look like its a perfect match but heck no it wont fit it wont fit
Q: How do i change out my headlights for a 1998 ford Mustang?
i know there is a clip but after that im lost Do i have to take the side light off to do it ?
thanks
A: If your jus changing bulbs, that can be done from behind lights.
If your changing housing, side markers do need to come off, its very simple for do it yourselfers.
Aftrmkt lights come w/ directions. Jus look everything over, take your time, remember where everthing goes.
Im not positive about ur car but some lights have pop in clips!
Q: How can I fix the a/c on my 1998 Ford mustang?
All air in the car blows out hot. What could be wrong and what could be the easiest and cheapest way to fix it?
A: take it to trusted shop or dealer...nothing you can do yourself.
Q: Is there any way to do an alignment of a front end of a 1998 Ford Mustang at home?
I just put in new struts and the top of the tires are a bit in and the bottom is a bit out. Any help would be appreciated.
A: I would say that it would take a lot more time and effort to do your own alignment. It can be done but the expense is going to be more than the cost to have it done by a Pro.
I would not worry about the castor and camber at this point and get the toe-in close or neutral. Measure the distance between the front tires at the front of the tire and the rear of the tire. If they are about the same within a 1/16 of an inch then that is good enough to drive a short distance to a alighment shop.
