Q: How long does it take a 2005 chevy Silverado to reach this speed?
How long does it take a 310 horsepower V8 2005 5.3L Chevy Silverado to reach 0-80? how many seconds is it
A: 16.8
Q: Anyone have a 2005 Chevy Silverado that has been broken into? Mine was broken into like it was a joke.?
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. It was broken into while I was at the gym and it was parked out front. The keyhole was damaged and looked like it was pushed in and forced to unlock. I couldn't even tell there was damage until I saw it in the daylight since I use my keyless entry. Anyone know if these trucks are notorious for being broke into? It was a quick grab and go job, so they must be easy.
A: Hmm... what did they steal? anything of value? Or did they just break in and maybe break things? Could have been someone trying to get at you.. or just some punks wanting to break stuff. I don't drive a Silverado but my tires got slashed one night and it was done within a 20 min window so I think it was random punks or someone aiming to get at me. I think that might have been your situation too.
As far as how quick they broke in.. my dad has worked with cars all his life and he can jimmy in a fully closed window quietly in less than 3 min.
Q: How many knock sensors does a 2005 chevy silverado with a 5.3 litre engine have?
The ecu stored code # po332, I cleared the code and it came back on after two weeks. I do not hear any pinging or knocking noises in the engine. I also use premium fuel with 92 octane rating.
A: "I also use premium fuel with 92 octane rating."
What is the car rated for? I don't believe you need to be running premium fuel.
As for the knock sensors, there are typically two sensors, one on either side of the engine block.
Q: Can you fit two Britax convertible carseats in a 2005 Chevy Silverado SS?
Three year old is behind the drivers seat in a Britax Decathlon, but plan on putting him in a Britax Regents and the one year old in the Decathlon in the middle. Is it safe. Seats in the back are not that big. They are maybe half a seat big and there isn't that much room.
A: Its safe as long as they are in the seats, but it would probably be better if you could move the one yr. old over bhind the passenger. Its going to be uncomfortable but its possible to pull it off.
Q: How much on average is insurance on a 2005 chevy silverado 2500 or ford F-250?
Looking to buy one of these vehicles and wanted to see how much on average it is. Thanks!
A: It varies a lot from state to state, even city to city. The two vehicles will be similar in price. It would be impossible to guess since we don't know where you are. Just look in the yellow pages for a broker who deals with state farm, or something like that, to get started. Of course, show around with Geico and Progressive to get the best deal.
I'm more of a Ford guy, but with the F-250's of that era, I would go with the Chevy. They tend to be more durable. Most of all, avoid the Ford diesel, if the one you're looking at has one.
All the best.
Q: How do I remove rotors on a 2005 Chevy Silverado z71?
The rotors seem to be seized on the hub are these machine pressed?
A: rotors should just pop off you may need a hammer and hit the hub of the rotor to jar them loose
Q: 2005 chevy silverado antifreeze problems?
on my 2005 5.3L 1500 chevy silverado has a overheating problem. i always have to put antifreeze in it about once a week or once every 2 weeks. i know when i dont have coolant cuz my temp gauge will rise over 210. what could be the problem for it? it has about 96000 miles on it. and i havent did my cooling system maintenance yet.
A: As the guy above said you have a leak! The engine does not burn the stuff!
Q: I am looking for a high performance cam shaft for a 2005 chevy silverado. What is the best one and why?
the engine is a 5.3L v8 vortec
A: Stick with the big name brands like comp cams or crane. Make sure you get one that has been EPA certified or you will be real sorry. The bigger companies have the resources to properly engineer cams that will work with the EPA, computers and OBDII 's. If you were to have something 1980 or older you can pretty much do what you want with mods. Have an emission legal cam (E-303) in my 5.0 and it flies through emission with flying colors! and has a nice lope to it. So it's possible to have a street legal hp cam on a computer controlled car. Check with the manufacturers and get a SPECIFIC recommendation for you application. BTW, why do you need a cam change? it will only be worth 10-15hp at best in your app. There are much cheaper ways to get that kind of power. HTH
Q: 2005 Chevy Silverado reg cab v6 4.3l exhaust?
So I have a 2005 silverado reg cab with a v6 4.3l. I was wondering what type of muffler could I put on my truck to give it a deep sound? I was thinking like a flowmaster, magnaflow, Gibson etc. But which type and model would sound the best?
A: I have an 03 silverado ext. cab with the 4.8l V8 with dual exhaust. I have the Flowmaster exhaust on it. It sounds really nice and a low deep roar
Q: 2005 Chevy Silverado Smoking?
I have a 2005 chevy silverado 1500. It has the 5.3 and has 103500 miles on it. I just replaced the intake manifold gaskets and thermostat. It overheats alot and drinks coolant like no other. What could cause this overheating? and I white smoke at start up. not all the time but most of the time.
A: Cracked block, head, intake. Any of them. Time to pressurize the coolant system and see if it holds. Then you'll know a little more.
Either way, you have a serious issue and I advise not driving it until you solve the problem.
While you are at it, you might consider replacing the knock sensor and wire harness to it as once hey get wet, they are good about shorting out.
Q: I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado Hybrid the dealer just called and told me GM wants it back for $6500. they want?
to do some testing on it. They will also give me $4500. towards a new one. What do you think? Has anyone heard about this incentive?
A: haha...the 'testing' they want to do is that they want to try to sell it to someone else for $10,000.
And the $4500 toward a new vehicle is probably the rebate deal they have going on for all buyers.
Probably not a scam, but they really aren't offering anything special.
Q: Where is the location of the front air bag sensor on a 2005 Silverado?
I had my vehicle checked when the air bag light came on and the code B0100, electronic front end sensor fault, appeared. I need to know where to locate the sensor so I can replace it. The truck is a C1500 extended cab 2005 Chevy Silverado. Any help in answering this will be much appreciated.
A: Your seat has PPS (passenger presence system) sensors on the seat rail controlling the airbag multi-stage deployment and the B0100 diagnostic trouble code indicates a left signal circuit (sensor 1) performance fault. I suggest you check the connector to sensor 1, the occupant sensor on the driver side seat rail, and also check the connector to the SDM (sensing diagnostic module) which is mounted on the floor under the driver side seat. But to prevent accidental deployment of the airbags be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable and the wait at least 1 minute before tampering with the connectors. After checking the connectors for looseness or corrosion, then re-connect the negative battery cable and turn the ignition switch on to see if the airbag light goes off. If it doesn't then the driver side sensor (sensor 1) is probably defective. But before replacing the sensor, swap the driver side sensor over to the passenger side and the passenger side over to the driver side and then after cycling the ignition switch check the trouble codes again. If you get a B0103 (sensor 2 performance fault) then the sensor is bad but if you still get a B0100 (sensor 1 performance fault) then the problem is likely a faulty connector to the driver side sensor or a problem with the SDM or its connector, the sensing diagnostic module mounted on the floor under the driver side seat. And just as a reminder to prevent accidental deployment of the airbags, be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable and the wait at least 1 minute before tampering with the connectors, sensors, and the sensing diagnostic module.
Q: While I'm pumping gas in my 2005 Chevy Silverado, the pump will click off like the tank is full.?
What do you think the problem might be? I start pumping gas, maybe a gallon or two then it stops. I start again and it'll kick back. I pull out the nozzle and re-insert it, it'll work again for a few gallons. Am I doing something wrong?
A: your probably NOT doing something wrong.
If you put in the nozzel all the way, it has a tendency to shut itself off automatically because, the backsplash from the fuel going into the tank triggers the automatic shutoff that's on the gas pump.
This is a safety feature on all gas pumps. To avoid the shutoff and fill your tank, try putting in the nozzel only most of the way rather than jaming it in all the way.
Q: 2005 chevy silverado coolant overflow bottle question.?
Hi on my silverado 2005, I often smell coolant at idle when the engine is hot, none of the hoses are leaking or compromised. However the coolant overflow bottle, has a nipple on side near the top with a corrugated tube that actually looks like loom, this then vents to atmosphere. This is a new vehicle for me and I am not familiar with this type of layout. Is this normal or did someone monkey something. If so if anyone has a coolant system diagram it would be of much help.
Thanks a bunch!
A: Those GM motors as of late are KNOWN WELL for head gaskets and lower intake manifolds leaking. My buddy has a 2005 silverado 85K miles the motor blew a head gasket 2 months back. Have it pressure tested, I would bet you have an external head asket leak or lower intake manifold gaskets leaking a little. VERY COMMON
Q: 2005 Chevy Silverado---how do I set the clock in it?
I bought a 2005 Chevy Silverado (4-door) and recently had the transmission rebuilt...and when I got the truck back, the clock was messed up with the wrong time. I didn't get an owner's manual for the truck when I bought it, so I'm in the dark as to how to set the clock. And I don't want to go buy an owner's manual just yet. Could someone please give me step-by-step instructions on how to set the right time? Thank you veeeerrry much! :) xoxo
Ok...I tried autotell.com and the page would never load for me. I checked the stereo in my car, and there are NO buttons that say "hours" or "minutes" on them.
A: This is directly from gm service information: Set Clock: Press and hold the HR or MN button until an audible beep indicates the time set mode has been entered. Once the beep is heard, the time can be set by tapping each button to incrementally adjust the time. Holding down each button will rapidly change the time.
--------------
for the hour and minute buttons check under the tune knob on the lower left of the radio- the web address below shows a picture of a radio that should resemble your radio somewhat- there might be a bracket between the buttons that says update or they might only be marked by an H and an R.
