Q: How do you adjust the torsion bars on my 2003 chevy silverado 2500hd to bring the front up a couple of inches?
How do you adjust the torsion bars on my 2003 chevy Silverado 2500hd to bring the front up a couple of inches? ...
Do i need a special tool? a torsion key? or can i use my own tools?
A: You will just need a socket and ratchet to adjust the torsion bars.
I'm not sure what size your adjuster bolts are, but will take a socket around 21mm in size. You will find the bolts (1 per torsion bar) that are orientated vertically on the cross member at the rear part of the torsion bars.
Turn each adjustment bolt clockwise the same amount to increase the ride height. I would go two full turns at a time, then move the truck forward and backward a few feet to allow the suspension to 'settle'; (as the suspension cycles through its travel, the tires move inward and outward, so moving the truck allows the tires to travel center themselves underneath the hub).
If you go up a couple of inches, you WILL need to get the front end aligned.
Q: What is the best muffler for my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500?
Looking to get input on the best sounding muffler to put on my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD (Gas) Ext. cab.
I would like something a bit more aggressive sounding than the stock system.
Thanks!
A: I am partial to Magnaflow my self. Nice deep rumble but not too loud. If your looking for a cat-back I would have to recommend MBRP. They make an exceptional product, priced about the same as the rest and the best customer service in the biz.
Q: 2003 Chevy Silverado dies when turning or if running air and radio all at once>? HELP?
I have a 2003 chevy silverado. I have noticed lately when I turn into a parking spot my truck will die. Another thing I can't run the air and the radio at once I notice the voltage meter goes way down and the truck is very sluggish. I opened the hood and I do notice that the belt is running kind of slow. My power steering is funny to. DO you think it can be my Tensioner going out??
A: it sound like your truck is not idling very high the tps sensor maybe bad do you have a check engine light if you do auto zone will check your codes free ! they can check your charging system also
Q: Can i install a DIC steering wheel on a 2003 chevy silverado LS?
Is it possible to install a DIC steering wheel with the radio funtions and performance funtions on a 2003 chevy silverado LS, and if possible where would i find this steering wheel?
A: It can be done. Check out this forum. :-)
Q: Are the front door speakers on a 2002 and a 2003 chevy silverado extended cab the same?
I was looking at speakers on Ebay and the 2003 speaker looks like the one on my 2002 truck. I can't tell if the plug receptacle is the same or not. The listing was for a 2003-2007. I emailed the guy but he didn't know if they would work on a 2002 or not.
A: they are both 6-3/4" but i don't know if the mounting depth/clearance is the same
Q: How do I remove the dashboard on a 2003 Chevy Silverado?
I need to add to my stereo system (aftermarket, professionally installed), and I need to get to the back of the unit to do so. I'd like some steps on how to get in as easily as possible, without breaking anything.
A: I don't have a 2003 - but they were different that some of the older ones. In the 2000, you put the steering wheel down as far as it can go, do the same with the shifter and firmly pull the dash off, working from one side to the other. Snap it back on the same way.
But go down to autozone and see if they have a chilton's on the truck and take a look at the instructions in there for the dash removal.
Q: I have a 2003 chevy silverado extended cab 4x4 and it is grinding when ever I drive it all the sudden?
I know it has to do with the 4wd but what can it be?
A: I had the same problem on my 03 tahoe and it was the inner wheel bearings and front wheel bearing grease seal ! total cost $300 . good luck man !
Q: Why does my 2003 Chevy Silverado only blow air out the defroster setting?
Is there some kind of mechanism or motor that moves something to redirect air from defroster to under-the-dash to front-of-the-dash? I'm suspecting that whatever does that is not working? Can I replace it myself?
A: it would be your blend doors but unless you're a patient technician you wont be able to do it yourself. might as well take it into a shop.
Q: how to i reset the trouble codes on my 2003 chevy silverado?
i want to reset the dtc on my truck so i can determine a hard code from and intermittent code.
how do i reset? remove cable for ten minutes? use code reader to clear dtc? if i can clear the codes for free would be nice.
A: The only approved way is with a code reader or scanner. Auto Zone can read codes and sometimes clear them for you, which is free. Dealership usually has a fee to clear codes. A trick that has worked for me on occasions is to disconnect both of the battery cables, and put a 3/8 nut on each of the cables to make good contact, wait at least 10 minutes before the next step, than touch the cables together sometimes that will clear all of the codes. Do wait at least 10 minutes before touches the cable together. It has worked for me when I didn't have a scanner handy. Good luck
Q: Is it possible to bypass the OEM security system on a 2003 Chevy Silverado?
Before I can start my truck I have to press a button on a little remote control that looks just like an alarm remote. It has two buttons and I must press either one of these before I can start the truck. The problem is that the little batteries are expensive and wear out rather quickly, leaving me stranded occasionally. Does anyone know of a way to bypass or disable this security feature so that I do not need the little remote? Thanks.
A: I don't have a very good mental picture of what the remote is actually doing. Your 2003 Silverado should have the Passlock II anti-theft system and I suspect the remote is actually bypassing that. Try the procedure in the first source, and look into how the system may have been bypassed (or the remote is operating a Passlock "bypass" box that presents a particular resistance to the Body Control Module). Good luck with this frustrating system.
Q: 2003 chevy silverado spare tire only lowers a few inches?
I'm trying to drop my spare and it drops about 6 inches and stops. The spare will swing back and forth and the cable continues to drop but the tire won't go any lower even with the cable all the way to the pavement. Any ideas?
I just worked on it again and still nothing. I don't see any safety cables or anything through the lug nut holes. The tire and the pieces that hold the tire rotate freely.
A: a lot of dealerships will install a spare tire lock(cable type) and if the spare is dirty it can be hard to see. it will run trough the wheel and around the cross-member that holds the spire. hope this helps
