Q: Whats the value of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado LS with a salvaged title?
It looks like it is in mint condition, everything works great on it, new tires, only 48000 miles. Is it a good buy at $5000. Also it was wrecked, hence the salvage title. Liability insurance with PIP and insured/uninsured motorist will be about $45 bucks a month.
A: Just because it salvaged does not always mean it's been repaired or the vehicle is junk. You can have a car that was theft recovery and in perfect shape and be titled salvaged. Usually a salvage vehicle loses about 50% to 60% of it true value. Some states require you to have them inspected to have them road worthy. Insurance compainies will insure salvages cars but don't expect full value if you wreck it. They will usually ony pay about 50% of it's value.

Q: is a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS or LT ext cab with 4.8 or 5.3 engine a good truck?
I really want to buy these kind of trucks hopefully with under 120k miles on it. Is it a good dependable truck overall?
A: i have a 2001 chevy 1500 z-71 ex cab. we purchased it a year ago and have only had to do the usual - oil changes and change the brake pads/shoes. it had 68,000 miles on it when we got it and now it has 102,000. if this helps, we paid $16,900.00 for it. we could have gotten it cheaper i think, but in my area, we jumped on it cuz 4x4's are kinda hard to come by here. now the gas milage is a different story... in the winter we get around 21-22 mpg and in the summer with running the a/c, we get around 18 -19 mpg :>(
i guess it's about average with a 4x4 though. keep in mind that the newer models - sometimes when buying new parts it can cost more - the newer models can sometimes only be worked on through a dealer rather than working on them yourself depending on the part that needs work - alot of the parts can only be purchased through a dealer cuz of the parts stores not caring the parts (for instance when we had the oil changed, the part store didn't care the air filter) however, now advance auto does care one and it cost about 50.00, but has a lifetime warranty.
overall, we like the truck, but if we had it to do over again, we'd try to go with one that has the 4 full doors. our truck has 4 doors, but the back 2 are what i call half doors, lol... the 4 full doors are a big advantage if you have a family. also, on some of these trucks, a heater will come on the transmission to get it heated up quicker. they have several cool things that i like about them. and taxes cost 249.00 per year and insurance cost around 750.00 per year.
hope this info helps...
Q: I have a 2002 chevrolet silverado with dual exhaust?
when I take off it souds fine but about 2nd gear it sounds like there is a slight clog in the exhaust. In neutral, when I rev it up it sounds fine. What could this be? Maybe the catalytic converter?
A: i could be there is more stress on the transmision or the converter, if I were you I would get that converter off there, I have a 95 chevy truck and the converter got clogged and I lost some engine power.

Q: Shock absorbers for a Chevrolet 4X4?
I have a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 (Z71 package) in need of new shock absorbers. I was wondering if I should stick with the OEM absorbers (which I've heard are actually pretty good) or go with an upgrade. I don't 4x a whole lot nor do I have a lift kit or bigger tires. But I do like quality items and I don't mind investing in my truck a little. So any reccomendations that won't drain my wallet completely?
A: you can go back with stock ones on this or upgrade to a Monroe shock or a Gabriel shock either one, both are good, the original delco shocks was the best riding ones though for that truck,i made the mistake of getting a heavy duty shock for my tuck, and it destroyed the ride of it,i went with a Monroe heavy duty, and I'm thinking about going back to the original delco ,they ride good and it handled good, you got a choice on this one,but the originals ride better than the after market ones do,the cost is about the same either way on them, the only difference is the way they ride and handle, good luck on it.

Q: How to replace a front right axle seal?
I have a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado Z71. I have to replace the front right axle seal. Is this something an average joe with some mechanical skills able to fix? If so, how do I go about tackling this?
A: Remove the wheel. Remove the brake caliper. Take the cotter key out of the end of the axle bolt. Remove the axle bolt. Slide the brake disk off the axle. turn it over so you can see the back of it. Take a flat head screwdriver and pry the seal out. While you have it all apart make sure to repack the wheel bearings. Replace the seal and reverse the process. It's not too hard.
Q: How do I make my truck faster?
I have a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L V8. Ive installed a Superchip and a K&N Cold Air Intake. I want more get up and go. What can I do?
A: well to get full effect from the K&N intake kit you do need a free flowing exhaust, your putting more air in so you have to get it out better, i have a 98 Silverado 1500 Z71 with a 5.7L 350, has a K&N air intake kit and a TRUE dual flowmaster exhaust with an X-pipe, since i already had the exhaust with i got the K&N the K&N made a big difference in acceleration from more air going in, with your stock exhaust its just not letting the K&N do its full job so you need to free up the exhaust so really feel it, but the acceleration difference will be the K&N not exhaust so don't be confused because like i said the exhaust was on my truck when i bought it used but added the K&N kit and it make it pick up a hell of a lot better
